From its source in the central part of Lunte District in the Northern Province of Zambia, 14.3Km north of Mukupa Kaoma, the Kalungwishi River flows for 328.3Km to Lake Mweru. The river defines boundaries between a number of districts along its course and has many rapids and waterfalls that include the Mbulumatuto Falls, Lumangwe Falls, Kabwelume Falls and Kundabwika Falls.
