Lake Mweru, located in the north western part of Zambia, is one of Zambia’s five largest water bodies that include Bangweulu, Kariba, Mweru Wa Ntipa and Tanganyika.
The lake is shared between Zambia and the DR Congo. It is an important resource for the people of Nchelenge and Chienge districts of Luapula Province whose livelihoods depend mostly on fishing.
